Contemplating Psalm 145

Great is the Lord

What do we proclaim in this psalm? The bountiful and steadfast love of God.

We speak this psalm because our cries for relief have gone unanswered. We stand by as our foes are lifted up and there is nothing we can do about it. There are those things we can’t fix, those people we can’t reach, and the life we can’t get back.

As the enemy continues to have his day over us all we can do is ask, “How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?”

The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.

Psalm 145:8-9

The psalm does not end with an answer, but a declaration. Trust in His steadfast love, rejoice in His salvation, and sing because of His bountiful love.
